You can get to Ometepe by boat or ferry from Granada or San Jorge (near to Rivas). The fastest way is to take the boat from San Jorge. From San Jorge it takes you about one hour to arrive in Moyogalpa, the main port. The ferries are bigger boats than the regular and also transport cars to the island. A boat schedule can be found below. The boat from Granada only goes a couple of times a week and is not as reliable as the other boats. This boat will take you to Altagracia, the other big city on island next to Moyogalpa.
A recently paved road between Moyogalpa and Altagracia has improved travelling around the island dramatically. The distance from Moyogalpa to Altagracia is about 24 kilometer. There are buses and microbuses to get to places around the island (note that in Sunday there are only a few buses). To go to Tesoro del Pirata just ask a taxi driver or bus to drop you off at our place!
